Are you passionate about protecting our reserves and conserving nature? The cattle we have grazing our reserves are an intrinsic part of this system and we need people to keep an eye on them. We need help at Hook Heath, Southmoor, Farlington and Swanwick. Ideally we are looking for reliable volunteers who can commit to checking the cows at least once a week. You could check just one site or several if you have the time . ‘Lookering’ cows simply includes counting numbers and looking at the general heath of the animals, taking particular interest in the eyes and the mobility of the animal. Its best done while enjoying the reserve on a dog walk or nature watching, it needn’t be a special out of the way trip.
No previous experience is needed as a training day will be organised in the next couple of weeks. If this sounds like a project you would like to get involved with please contact me on the details on the poster.
