The week before Christmas in photos (Part 1)

I thought Id share some photos from the week so far. It’s mostly been spent down at Hookheath Meadows. We’ve been busy scrub clearing trying to enhance the grassland and wildlife corridors or links within the reserve.

Monday was spent with the ever so enthusiastic Beechcroft team. We came into a new area of scrub and worked back towards an open area of grassland. The team were so productive we knocked off two days work in one ! Must have been the lure of mince pies for lunch….

Heres some piccies;

The site looking much clearer at the end of Monday

Yesterday was the day for jacket spuds, mince pies and other tasty christmas niceties. As Bob has already blogged below we had a well attended christmas volunteer get-together. This was our chance as the HWT to say a big thankyou for all the hard work that is kindly done by all our dedicated volunteers. Without their hard work the reserves would look very different indeed!!

Christmas Get-together wouldnt be complete without a fine christmas hat!

Hot potatoes straight out of the fire with cheese & beans!!

The area looking alot clearer at the end of the day.

Can almost see a carpet of spring flowers……….almost.

Lets hope the weather forecast is wrong for the next few days and I manage to get out on the reserves without ending up soaking wet.

  1. Well done all. We have managed to visit Hookheath several times during the year and know that Theo Roberts would be so pleased with all your efforts. A little gem in spring and summer. Well worth saving.
