Autumnal colours are definitely in full swing. Beech and maple trees are all looking particularly stunning at the moment. While checking the cattle on Hookheath I took this photo…..
Although not strictly a Solent reserve, the Beechcroft team were busy on Broughton Down yesterday doing a spot of scrub clearance. Although the clouds were low there was still a great view from the top of the hill. Broughton is a particularly nice reserve and for those interested in butterflies its incredible in the summer months. The reserve is noted particularly for its colonies of Chalkhill Blue, Silver spotted skipper and Adonis Blue. The scrub clearance work we were carrying out was to enhance the area for the Duke of Burgundy.
